Edvard Munch

Edvard Munch (1863–1944) was a Norwegian painter and printmaker, widely regarded as a pioneer of modern art and a key figure in Expressionism. He's best known for his deeply psychological and emotionally charged works that explore themes of love, loss, anxiety, and mortality. His art was heavily influenced by his difficult childhood, marked by illness, the early deaths of his mother and sister, and a fear of hereditary mental illness.
